EFCC: We do not have Ebelechukwu Obiano in custody, EFCC debunks rumours of arrest of Anambra’s ex-First Lady

EFCC arrests Anambra's ex-First Lady, Ebelechukwu Obiano

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied picking up Ebelechukwu Obiano, the wife of the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano.

According to some blogger’s reports citing Punch as the source, Ebelechukwu was arrested by the EFCC and is allegedly being held at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, however, has denied any knowledge of Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano’s arrest.

Mrs Obiano who recently announced her intention to contest the Anambra North District at the Senate under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) had been in the news since the fracas with Mrs Bianka Ojukwu.

The news of her arrest comes barely a month after her husband and former governor of Anambra, Mr Willie Obiano was arrested by the EFCC at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Willie Obiano, after handing over power to his successor, Charles Soludo, was arrested and accused of mismanaging N37 billion security vote and N5bn SURE-P fund.

Recall that Ebelechukwu had earlier hit the headlines at Soludo’s handing over ceremony following her public scuffle with a former Nigerian ambassador to Spain and wife of Biafra warlord, Mrs Bianca Ojukwu.
